SPECIAL BULLETIN - Boquete suffered from considerable flooding last November and although it did a great deal of damage to crops and livestock, press reports around the world made some people think we had been wiped off the map. This has hurt tourism to our area, which local people depend upon to support their families. Boquete has NOT been wiped out. Far from it. We are a thriving community with virtually all of our fine hotels and restaurants still in great shape. The damage was localized to the Rio Caldera river and never reached the downtown area of Boquete.
